Accreditation

The Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

Federal Department of Education granted IDSVA students full access to federally guaranteed student loans.

IDSVA was granted Candidate for Accreditation Status by NEASC, effective July 28, 2010

May 15, 2007
IDSVA commenced its first year of instruction, and began the accreditation process with NEASC

Mar. 1, 2007
the Governor of the State of Maine signed legislation granting IDSVA the authority to confer the PhD


Candidacy is not accreditation nor does it assure eventual accreditation. Candidacy for Accreditation is a status of affiliation with the Commission which indicates that the institution has achieved initial recognition and is progressing toward accreditation.
