IDSVA 2011 Summer Residency Visiting Faculty Lectures
IDSVA is especially proud to announce scholars and philosophers participating in the 2011 IDSVA Summer Residency Visiting Faculty Lectures.
Howard Caygill---Spannocchia Castle. Howard Caygill, Kingston University, London, is internationally recognized for A Kant Dictionary and numerous texts on visual culture, including Walter Benjamin: The Colour of Experience. Professor Caygill will lecture on Kant, Hegel, and the shift from Neoclassicism to Romanticism. He will also lecture on contemporary art and aesthetics.
Sharon Hecker---Milan. Installer of Jenny Holzer’s1992 Venice Biennale exhibition, Sharon Hecker is an international curator based in Milan. She will discuss DaVinci’s “Last Supper” on location, and will also introduce other important Milan art sites, including Dan Flavin’s light installation at Santa Maria Church.
John Rajchman---Spannocchia Castle. John Rajchman, Columbia University, is a major American philosopher and author of groundbreaking texts such as The Deleuze Connection. Professor Rajchman is this year’s intellectual consultant to the Korean Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. At Spannocchia this year he lectured on that as well as the Chinese exhibition.
