Tuition and Fees
Annual tuition is $22,500. There is an annual Library & Technology Fee of $500. Tuition and Fees are billed at a total of $11,500 per semester, due in May and December. Tuition may be paid by personal or certified check, wire transfer, or Visa/Mastercard. A 3% processing fee will be added to any amount paid by Visa/Mastercard. All tuition must be paid in full by the end of each semester.
Beyond tuition and fees, students must pay for books, airfares to and from residency locations, and some meals during residencies. Estimated annual costs are $800 for books, $1500 for airfare to and from residencies and $800 for meals during residencies. These costs are estimated, will vary by student, and are the responsibility of the student.
Tuition is charged for three years of coursework. Beyond the third year, there is a $2000 dissertation preparation fee per semester. Most students will need four semesters for dissertation preparation.

Financial Aid
IDSVA anticipates Title IV status in 2011 or 2012, at which point federally guaranteed loans become available to IDSVA students. Until IDSVA is granted Title IV status, federal student loans from other institutions cannot be deferred for IDSVA students, and tuition is not tax-deductible.
Scholarships
IDSVA offers a limited number of need and merit based Scholarships. The scholarship application form may be downloaded as a Word document (.doc) here and submitted with the application, or submitted after acceptance to IDSVA. There are also a limited number of fellowships, offered primarily in the third year.
IDSVA Private Loan
Maine Education Services (MES) offers private, credit-based education loans to qualified borrowers at a fixed interest rate of 8.50%. The annual borrowing limit is $15,000; co-signers may be required. More information is available here.
Payment Plans
Payment plans are available through IDSVA. Before attending the first year Italy residency, a down payment of $4500 is required. The balance of tuition due may be paid in equal monthly installments, or another payment schedule may be proposed as long as tuition due is paid in full by the end of the semester.
Travel and Food
IDSVA provides room and board during the twenty-four day residency at Spannocchia Castle and covers lodging costs at other residency locations, such as Venice, Paris, Milan and New York. IDSVA also covers the cost of curriculum-related travel from a residency campus to other locations, as, for example, from Spannocchia to Florence, Venice or Paris. Students are responsible for travel cost to and from residency locations, as for example, between their home and Italy, and between their home and New York. While in New York or on special assignment, such as Venice, Milan or Paris, students are responsible for their own meals.
